Global Child Forum launches new digital tool helping business understand their children’s rights risks and opportunities
Stockholm, Sweden, 19 April 2021
Stockholm-based Global Child Forum announced today the launch of their newest digital tool, “The Magnifier”, designed to help business focus on their children’s rights risks and opportunities, supported with real-world cases and helpful resources.
Today’s takeholders expect that businesses perform on all sustainability measures – social, economic and environmental. But understanding where to begin – and what to prioritize – is becoming increasingly complex. Starting with a children’s rights perspective, and understanding how a company positively, or negatively, impacts children, offers a good baseline for performing well on all sustainability indicators.
Global Child Forum just made this process easier for companies with the launch of their latest digital tool – The Magnifier.
The Magnifier: Free, easy-to-use providing tailored guidance
The Magnifier, developed in consultation with leading global companies, is a free, easy-to-use, web-based tool that, through a series of questions, is designed to help companies identify their knowledge gaps around their children’s rights impact. Based on their answers, the tool delivers prioritized focus areas and tailors insights to help companies understand the ways in which they impact children. Importantly, the tool guides the company on how take action, avoid risks and unlock market opportunities in order to create a better world for children. One key feature of the tool is the real-world business cases covering nine sectors and the ability for peer-to-peer interaction.
“Despite children being important stakeholders, the vast majority of companies are not aware of the wide-reaching impact they have on the lives of children, nor do they know how to ensure children’s rights are respected in, and throughout, their business,” says Cajsa Wiking, Global Child Forum’s Secretary General. “We developed this tool to show companies – in an easy and accessible way – how their company impacts children and to provide concrete examples of what is possible when companies take a child-first approach.”
“We know that companies that integrate children’s rights into their operations are better placed to be the winners of the future – both for their company and for society,” says Filippa Bergin, Global Child Forum’s Head of Research and Business Development. “The Magnifier helps companies focus on those children’s rights areas which are most salient to their company, while supporting with case stories from their peers and resources designed to help take the next step.”
