Global Child Forum’s Partner Advisory Board 2024

On October 2nd, 2024, the Global Child Forum’s Partner Advisory Board (PAB) met at the Stockholm Royal Palace, hosted by our founders, Their Majesties The King and Queen of Sweden. The gathering brought together financial partners and collaborators to discuss advancing children’s rights in the corporate sector amidst evolving global challenges.

King Carl XVI Gustaf, Honorary Chairman of Global Child Forum, opened the meeting by addressing the ongoing issues facing children and stating: “Considering these pressing challenges, we must integrate children’s rights into business practices, ensuring that corporate operations protect the well-being of children globally.”

Strengthening partnerships for children’s rights

The meeting focused on Global Child Forum’s growth and potential to expand through new and existing partnerships.

Ekin Björstedt, the newly appointed Secretary General, addressed the PAB for the first time, emphasising the power of a united voice to create meaningful change in children’s lives.

Diana Krogh, Vice President for Social Responsibility at the LEGO Group, highlighted how companies must understand their impact on children’s well-being. She pointed to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) as an opportunity for businesses to integrate children’s rights into their operations.

As part of their partnership, the LEGO Group and Global Child Forum developed a tool, to be launched in mid-October, called The Corporate Playbook: Embedding Children’s Rights into the ESRS, to help companies align with these new standards.

Her Majesty the Queen concluded the event, reinforcing the collective responsibility: “Together, we must continue to embed children’s rights in business practices and ensure companies worldwide not only respect but actively protect children’s well-being.”
