Helena Thybell has a remarkable career, notably serving as CEO/Secretary General for Rädda Barnen (Save the Children) in Sweden, where she fervently advocated for children’s rights. Prior to this role, she served as the Head of Human Resources for the H&M Group, overseeing the development and well-being of nearly 176,000 employees. Katarina Mellström, Secretary General of Global Child Forum, expressed her enthusiasm about Helena’s appointment, stating: “We are thrilled to welcome Helena Thybell to our Board. Her wealth of experience and dedication to creating a better world for children aligns seamlessly with our vision. Helena’s insights will strengthen our efforts to advance children’s rights within the corporate sector.”

Highlighting the urgency of the cause, Katarina Mellström added: “Children’s rights are at risk and the collective decline in commitment to children’s well-being is alarming, especially as it comes at a time when companies should be surging ahead to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. Helena’s appointment is a significant step towards helping Global Child Forum foster the necessary change.”

Helena’s career has consistently prioritised human rights, making her a formidable advocate for children’s well-being. With her deep understanding of corporate responsibility, she is poised to contribute significantly to Global Child Forum’s mission. Helena Thybell expressed her excitement upon joining the Board, stating: “It is an honour to be part of Global Child Forum’s Board of Directors. I am deeply passionate about ensuring the well-being of children, and I look forward to contributing to the organisation’s vital work.”

Annette Brodin Rampe, Chair of the Board, echoed these sentiments: “Helena’s appointment comes at a crucial time, where we see children’s rights eroding within the corporate sector. Her leadership and commitment to social responsibility make her a valuable addition to our Board. We look forward to working closely with her as we continue to drive positive change for children.”

Helena Thybell’s appointment is effective as of December 6, 2023.
