PRESS RELEASE
Stockholm, June 4
Global Child Forum, a leading advocate for children’s rights and business, is delighted to announce the appointment of Per Heggenes to its Board of Directors. Mr. Heggenes, the former CEO of the IKEA Foundation and a long-standing partner of Global Child Forum, brings a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to children’s welfare to the organisation.
As the first CEO of the IKEA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Stichting INGKA Foundation, the owner of the Swedish home furnishings company IKEA, Mr. Heggenes has been pivotal in shaping the foundation into a significant force in global philanthropy. The foundation funds initiatives across more than 45 countries to fight climate change and improve the lives of the disadvantaged, especially children.
“We are thrilled to welcome Per to the Board,” said Annette Brodin Rampe, Chair of Global Child Forum. “His exceptional leadership at the IKEA Foundation, his continued support to our organisation, and his passionate advocacy for children’s rights make him an invaluable addition to our team. We are confident that his insight and experience will greatly enhance our efforts during this critical period of growth for our organisation.”
Prior to his role at the IKEA Foundation, Mr. Heggenes held influential positions at Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and the global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, where he developed expertise in global and regional operations.
He serves on multiple advisory boards for humanitarian and development organisations and, in 2019, the UN Secretary-General appointed Heggenes to join the High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement.
“Joining the Board of Directors at Global Child Forum is a privilege and a profound responsibility that I embrace wholeheartedly,” stated Mr. Heggenes. “I have long admired Global Child Forum’s mission to inspire and influence companies to commit to putting children first in their operations and communities. At this critical juncture for children’s rights, our dedication to a child-first approach is more crucial than ever, particularly as we strive to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. I look forward to working closely with my fellow board members to intensify our efforts and make a lasting impact on the lives of children around the world.”
With Mr. Heggenes joining the board, Global Child Forum aims to deepen its influence and expand its reach in advocating for children’s rights and well-being within the corporate sector.
