Global Child Forum on Southern Africa
Children's Rights and the Corporate Sustainable Agenda
About the Forum
On 8 September 2015, the Global Child Forum gathered the 300 most important and influential international decision-makers from businesses, governments, civil society and academia for dialogue and thought leadership on the legal, moral and business case for investing in future generations. The purpose was to work and collaborate for a better tomorrow for the world’s children.
It was a day filled with inspiration and action — spurred on by our keynote speakers Mrs Graça Machel, Mozambican politician, humanitarian and widow of former South African president Nelson Mandela, H.R.H. Princess Sofia of Sweden, and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, African Union Commission Chairwoman.
The event included plenary sessions, interactive ActionLabs, and opportunities to create cross-sector partnerships. The day concluded in a cultural event followed by a reception.
The theme of the Forum was Children’s Rights within the Corporate Sustainability Agenda. A special focus was placed on the benefits and value of forging partnerships between businesses, governments, civil society and academia.
The Forum, with more than 30 prominent speakers and under the patronage and active participation of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden, showcased practical examples, and created action-oriented tools for cross-sectorial collaboration.
