Global Child Forum

Beyond Compliance:
Children’s Rights and the Future of Supply Chain Responsibility

What is this project about?

The world is paying closer attention to who gets a seat at the table – and that includes children.

Building on the momentum from the 2024 Global Child Forum at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Global Child Forum is proud to present this first-of-its-kind participatory initiative that empowers food and beverage companies to integrate children’s perspectives directly into their strategies.

Practically, project participants navigate two key phases of due diligence: starting with risk assessment and data analysis, and then moving on to upstream stakeholder engagement. Through this structured and dynamic format, participants will engage in four roundtables to explore data on risk and impact assessment and co-create tools, like the Children’s Rights and Business Atlas alongside peers and experts.

Why is this initiative needed?

The pressure is on. As laws tighten and public scrutiny grows, companies in the Consumer Goods sector are expected to go beyond risk management—to lead with purpose and integrity.

Child labour, especially in cocoa and palm oil, has sparked global outrage. In response, new laws on modern slavery and supply chain due diligence are raising the bar.

Consumers are demanding ethical sourcing—and companies are being held accountable.

Yet, the voices of those most affected—children—are still too often ignored. This initiative is here to change that. It’s time to put children where they belong: at the heart of responsible business.

Why now? Because companies that act today will set the standards of tomorrow.
